The Importance of Regular Dog Grooming

Regular dog grooming is vital to the overall health and wellbeing of your pet. Not only does your pet benefit, but so will you! Here is why it is important to have regular dog grooming done and the benefits that come with it:

  • Detection and prevention of health problems: Having professional dog grooming done is an excellent way to catch health problems early. The dog groomer can look for lumps, infections, inflammation, or other health problems that are visible on your dog’s skin. Early detection of these health problems can lead to an easier treatment and healing process down the road.
  • Maintains healthy coat and fur: In order for your dog to maintain a healthy coat, it is important you groom them frequently. It can prevent mats in their fur that cause abrasions, ulcers, and general discomfort. Just regular brushing can lead to a healthier coat, but to have the best work done it is recommended to bring them to a professional groomer.
  • Prevents joint pain: One major benefit of dog grooming is having the nails cut. Overgrown nails may cause your pet to experience joint pain due to walking with misaligned pads. Regular trimming of the nails also prevents curling which can be very painful for your dog.

I have a Samoyed show dog and Gabby grooms him. She is a really nice and sweet person, who is the same way with the dogs she grooms. She does an outstanding job grooming him. I couldn’t be happier!

Our dog Maisie started going to Leader of the Pack Canine Institute in October, 2024. On our first visit, the owner Lisa, gave me a tour of their beautiful facility. It was apparent to me how much thought was put into planning for the dogs, their owners, and their employees. Maisie’s first experience was in their day care. They have four large well equipped rooms all with their own outdoor space. Maisie loves going and gets to socialize with all kinds of dogs. The dogs are all evaluated before attending. We then boarded her for a week and had a complete spa groom on the last day so she was nice and relaxed when we picked her up. Their groomer Bella is willing to do anything to please. I can’t say enough about the staff and the work they do with the dogs.

We have been taking our mini Goldendoodle since his first haircut and have never been disappointed. He is always happy to go in there and comes out looking adorable. We always know he’ll be well cared for.

This was by far the best beginners class we have attended as pup owners for close to 30 years. Tommy, the lead trainer, along with co trainers Tara and Larry are wonderful. Their knowledge, patience and understanding of the canine world is amazing. They are very passionate about what they do! After touring the facility, which is very warm, inviting and spotless, we decided to occasionally take advantage of daycare options. Something we had never considered in the past. One of most important features of Leader of the Pack was knowing there is overnight staff when boarding. Every member of the staff is so friendly and welcoming. We are looking forward a long relationship with LOPCI

My absolute favorite thing to do is build and mold puppies into loving their spa days. It becomes the greatest reward when you've become bonded with a dog that trusts you through every process of their grooming journey. I also find purpose in educating owners on how to maintain breed specific coats. Creating a lifetime bond with both owners and their pets is my ultimate goal.

I've been grooming for over 25 years. I started my grooming career out of a horse trailer and over time built my way up to working in professional grooming salons. I love to groom any breed and size. Building lasting relationships with my clients is my biggest priority. In fact, the first dog I ever groomed over 25 years ago was a beautiful standard poodle who I remember to this day. Stop by Leader of the Pack, Easton and say hi! I can't wait to meet you and your pet!
